Amruta Sakalker is a bcFELLOW at buildingcommunityWORKSHOP since November 2015. She is working on POP projects and is currently researching on evolution of Downtown Dallas neighborhoods to inform the overall mapping initiative of Downtown and on the new phase of Little Free Libraries/Libros Libres, a literacy and design project.
Born in Mumbai, Amruta has worked with urban research based institutions in Mumbai on projects that focused on the role of small scale unorganized, businesses, residences and communities in Mumbai’s urbanism. One such project, “Cinema City” was exhibited at Berlinale, Germany in 2010. Taking forward her experience working in parallel with community based institutions and direct engagement with citizens as clients in India, she hopes to contribute to American urban context like Dallas.
She holds a Masters in Architecture from Penn State, where she received the University Graduate Fellowship and she completed her Bachelor's from KRVIA, Mumbai.
