Jesse Miller

Associate Director, Rio Grande Valley 

Jesse Miller is Associate Director of the Rio Grande Valley office of buildingcommunityWORKSHOP. He believes that each individual wants to shape where they live, work, and play, and works to inform [bc]’s work every day by seeking experiential knowledge from residents and local stakeholders.

Jesse’s career experience brings a thoughtful and passionate perspective to how design professionals engage with residents and communities, and has ranged from hands-on creative placemaking projects, to single home designs, to community planning initiatives, to the design of sustainable regional systems.

He has worked at the Gulf Coast Community Design Studio in Biloxi, Mississippi as a Public Design Intern and at the Center for Maximum Potential Building Systems in Austin, TX.

Jesse earned a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and a Master of Architecture at Ball State University, located in his home state of Indiana. While in graduate school, Jesse studied at the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey in Mexico working on his thesis titled "Between Tradition and Dissent: Learning From and Working With Ignored Communities."
